Close to the village of Cardington, the little hamlet of Longville lies at the foot of Caradoc and Lawley Hills in the South Shropshire countryside. Nearby Cardington boasts the oldest pub in Shropshire - The Royal Oak – which has been recorded as far back as the Domesday Book. The settlement's rural situation is ideal for walkers, with miles of country trails in all directions. Cyclists and horse-riding enthusiasts can also enjoy a wealth of off-road pathways. Buzzards, woodpeckers and ravens have all been seen in the local area, making this a popular place amongst bird watchers. Acton Scott Historic Working Farm, Severn Valley Steam Railway, Stokesay Castle, Shrewsbury, Ludlow and the Ironbridge Gorge are all within 15 miles of Cardington, whilst Church Stretton, known as "Little Switzerland" by the Victorians, is also close by.
