Situated on the banks of the River Severn is the village of Jackfield, close to Ironbridge Gorge and home of the world's first iron-built bridge, constructed 1777-79. Jackfield stands on the Wrekin Way footpath, which offers easy access to many scenic walks and cycle trails. The centre of Ironbridge is just a mile away and is one of the country's most popular tourist attractions. Situated in a lovely wooded valley in the heart of Shropshire, the village itself is home to many pubs, restaurants, shops and tea-rooms. A wide collection of industrial and Victorian theme museums are located in Ironbridge Gorge, including Blist Hill Victorian Village – a chance to experience what life was like in the Victorian era. The historic towns of Much Wenlock, Shrewsbury and Ludlow are also close by.
