The location is idyllic whilst combining everyday life in the countryside but being near enough to the city with Aberdeen and its airport only a 35-minute drive. The immediate area is ideal for those seeking activities with the village of Alford offering a swimming pool, dry ski slope and 18-hole golf course within a 2-mile drive. Alford also offers a good selection of shops, coffee shops and museums.

There is no shortage for places to visit, as the area known as “Castle Country” boasts a collection of 300 homes including Balmoral Castle, Crathes Casle and Haddo House to name a few. Home to an array of wildlife, visit the Cairngorms National Park, the largest in Britain. Discover the nature reserves, high mountains and ancient forests. Visit some of the oldest distilleries in the world and take part in one of the Whisky Trails. Take part in the many events and activities the area has to offer between May-September The Highland Games take place in a variety of settings, the most famous being the Braemar gathering. Take in traditional Highland competitions like the caber toss and hammer throw, Highland dancing and the rousing sound of the bag pipes.
