Enjoying a delightfully secluded, elevated rural setting and lovely far-reaching views through the trees over the surrounding countryside, three of the cottages adjoin one another whilst The Summer House is set a little apart within its own lawned garden. The pretty village of Winfrith Newburgh is just half a mile away and the galleries, museums, cafs, inns, restaurants and good shopping of the historic county town of Dorchester Thomas Hardy's 'Casterbridge' and home for many years are a 10 mile drive. A landscape of rolling chalk downland and hidden valleys, rich in archaeological remains, Dorset is truly an area of outstanding natural beauty, the nearby World Heritage coastline especially provides wonderful walking and breathtaking views. Attractions as diverse as Lulworth Castle, the Bovington Tank Museum, Monkey World and Cloud's Hill, former home of T. E. Lawrence (of Arabia) and now in the care of the National Trust, are all within easy reach and a drive to the fascinating Cerne Giant, an ancient figure cut into a chalk hillside, should not be missed. Hardy's Cottage at Higher Brockhampton and Corfe Castle (both N.T.) are also well worth exploring. Glorious sandy beaches and all the traditional delights of the seaside can be found at Weymouth, 12 miles. Riding, golf and sailing can all be enjoyed within a 10 mile drive.
