There is no through traffic, and the cottages offer direct access to the circular 8 miles of lake path. Both cottages boast a patio overlooking the lake, and, for children, there is a wood and small play area with toddler swings and slide.Carsington Water boasts an RYA recognised watersports centre, offering dinghy, windsurfer and canoe hire and tuition, and junior activity sessions for ages 816 in the summer holidays (advanced booking advisable). Bank fishing for brown trout can be enjoyed just 50 yards from the cottages and rowing boats may be hired from the fishery centre. Across the lake, the visitor centre provides a restaurant, shops, cycle hire and an adventure playground. Matlock Bath's Heights of Abraham cable cars and Gulliver's Kingdom, Crich Tramway Museum, Haddon Hall, Chatsworth House and the market town of Ashbourne are all within about 10 miles.
