Pocklington, 2 miles, offers shops, restaurants, and a sports centre, and also within 2 miles are the Burnby Hall Waterlily Gardens. York is only 13 miles. Throughout the summer, the great houses of Castle Howard, Sledmere, Duncombe Park, Rievaulx Abbey and Burton Agnes Hall are open to the public and are all within easy reach. Popular Eden Camp at Malton is 17 miles and from Pickering (25 miles) you can board the famous North Yorkshire Moors Steam Railway to journey over the 'Heartbeat' moorlands towards Whitby.
